Note how Animal Style Fries are almost as much as a Double-Double. Sometimes I get just the Animal Style Fries. It's good if I need more than a snack but not quite a meal, and no need for meat.
Sometimes I use those cup noodles as a meal. What a 28 cent meal does to your body must be terrible.
Gas was $3.459 on the highway that day. That was a good price. If you're ever passing through Kettleman City for gas, the Valero a bit further down the way has much better prices. But first stop for an In-N-Out burger. Some people were trying to boycott In-N-Out because they donated money to Republican candidates/causes. So did they to Democrats; Jim Jones donated to Harvey Milk (the other way around), it wasn't because he was endorsing him. He actually was supporting every candidate. I think it's a common practice. Plus I think In-N-Out donated more to Democrats. Don't quote me on that though. If it's true, it's probably b/c most of its locations are in California. You usually want to donate more to whoever you think is going to win, but in case you're wrong you still want a bug in the ear of the surprise winner. Quid pro quo.
Another good food idea: take one of those crispbreads and slather it in butter. Drizzle with honey if desired. Great breakfast. Won't keep you full forever, but often does the trick quickly in the morning, without weighing down.
The Bean and Rice Burrito at Treehouse at Stanford is a good weekend meal if you're not on a dining plan. They actually call it the "Starvin' Student Burrito," which was always a bit embarrassing to order, even though I had the cash to buy whatever I wanted. But I don't need a hunk of meat in my food all the time!
My roommate at the time showed me a great way to cook sausages. I used to remove the casing and crumble it up, fry it. Best way: put the sausages in the pan, fill up to halfway of the sausages (so just a bit of water), cook at med-hi, periodically poking holes in them w/ a fork. This releases all the oil. When the water dries up, fry the sausages to your liking. The result is a sausage surprisingly free of oil/fat. Just meat.
A friend of mine went on an all-milk diet for a time. He also did a starvation diet for 4 days (water+coffee fast), so I'll refer you to him for more bright culinary plans. But milk is fairly affordable. If I need a little more with those crispbreads, I just have a glass of milk. I used to dislike plain milk, but, like with many other tastes, I have come to enjoy it. Also, my breakfasts tend to be very dairy-heavy. Milk, yogurt, butter, even cheeses.
