My ride on the SF Cable Car

A few weeks ago I found myself about halfway between Market and Pier 39. Google Maps told me the fastest way to get to Sutter was to take the Cable Car down. So I waited. And waited. And eventually one came. I thought this had to be a joke. And if it wasn't a joke, the car would have to be full, no doubt. On the website, it said that the Muni Pass lets you get on the Cable cars; otherwise it's a $7 ride. No transfers. Hailed the car, they let me on -- with a seat! Never did I think I'd be taking a cable car just to get around SF.

Anyway, they didn't even bother to check my pass/make me pay. They did for other people though. I was sitting too far away. Got to Sutter, took my supper at Tacorea, an interesting Korean/Mexican fusion taco place. Good tacos, reasonable prices. Not fast service. Very filling, and spicy, though sauce is on the side in case that's not your thing. Saw Tomfoolery, which ended up being closing night a day early for reasons unexplained. Some Tom Lehrer wisdom included in the production:

So long mom,
I'm off to drop the bomb,
So don't wait up for me!
Fun times! Unfortunately it was not a sing-along and they didn't change it to one for the sudden closing night.

Took the cable car again to Market, then waited 20(!) minutes to take the T train back to my place. Could've taken buses, but was better to take the train so no transfers necessary.

I'll look for you
When the war is over
An hour and a half from now!
